Nwulia's Focus: In the memory of men of boots and Salutes
I know it is not yet Army remembrance day, but today, Nwulia Africa wish to throw an e-salute to the men safeguarding our lives and properties. As early as 2000's when i was still a growing child, i began to hear the exploits of the Nigerian Army all over the continent. From Liberia to Congo, Sierra Leone to Rwanda, Sudan to Tanzania.
Recently, i know many feel that the army is disappointing the Nigerian polity because of their ineffectiveness in solving the menace of Boko Haram, but they fail to realize that Boko Haram is not just militarily, it is a group whose roots sprout in different locations apart from the Military angle. It is a multi headed hydra that needs combined efforts of different sectors. Inasmuch as many feel that Nigerian Army has failed, I rather celebrate their positive contribution especially with their recent recapturing of Chibok town formerly captured by members of Boko Haram. I rather celebrate the fathers, mothers, daughters and sons that won't see their families again.
I rather thrive in the euphoria that stems from their love of Nigeria. The greatest gift to give to another is one's life, and everyday, these men of boots and salutes liteally "dash" us theirs for our protection, without asking for so much in return. Even when they all know that they're under- equipped.
Nwulia Africa is on e-salute in memory of our fallen unsung heroes.
