UNN: Female students gain another hostel.

Since last semester, the rumour mills of the university had always spun it that one of the male hostels will be converted to a female hostel, but since nothing came out of it, nobody took it serious....

However, it seems not anymore as the authorities, confirmed by a hall supervisor that modalities have been set in place to convert the popular male hostel, Mbanefo, into a female hostel.

Consequently, the Dean of student affairs who pushed the
demand to the VC has started
mobilizing beds and foams from Odili hostel to Mbanefo.

Odili, the post-graduate students' hostel, is to get new beds and foams.

Pitiably, it will be recalled that the last any of the male hostels
got  foams was in 2009 during the NUGA games which the School hosted.

Arguing further, the anonymous
hall supervisor stated that it has been observed that male students can manage whatever being given to them.

Following the above action, reactions, especially from male students of the university has continued to trail. Some called the act as "injustice" from the authorities. Another complained that Mbanefo should not have been the target because "it is not just a hostel, but a phenomenon".

Before now, the male students has always laid the complain that they're the worst treated in terms of accommodation in the university.

But also, it has been noticed that many dwells in suburbs outside the school, save for few and first years that lives in hostels.

As of now, male students can only boast of two hostels, against their female counterparts that has up to thirteen hostels including Zik's flat.
