PHBF Meet-the-author: Julius Agwu's book.
Day 3; Wednesday 23rd Oct, 2013.
The event took place by 4pm at the Port Harcourt Room, Hotel Presidential, venue of the Port Harcourt Book Festival as part of its programmes lined up for the day. It was moderated by the festival director, Koko Kalango.
The author, Julius Agwu, summarising his book, Jokes Apart- How Did I Get Here?, said that "it is all about my life. It is a story of focus, committment, and rebranding. Even the book cover speaks volume of words".
Further, he went down through the memory lane of his 'nobody' days. He recalled the pains he went through in his university days where he struggled alone as a student of Theatre Arts, Uniport, because his family wanted him to drop the course and embrace any of the professional courses which he refused to do. Thus, the responsibility for his schooling was abandoned. But that didn't deter him. Rather, he became creative with his friends and they formed Theatre crew back then. Through this he survived.
The audience were not left out as they got the chance to interact and ask the celebrity questions which he humourously obliged.
Answering one of the questions thrown to him, he said that every relationship is all about P. U. T. (Patience, Understanding and Tolerance).
He concluded with this quote, "Anybody can become a star, but not all can manage stardom".
Next event was his book signing.
