Well Lagosians, it seems your governor is indirectly telling every tom, dick and harry in the state to "go and buy your own car".

The Lagos State government has banned commercial buses, popularly known as “Molue”
from plying the Carter Bridge, Eko and 3rd Mainland Bridges.

Disclosing the development at a meeting with chairmen of the Lagos Urban Bus Owners
Association of Nigeria (LUBON) and operators of Molue buses, the General Manager, Lagos State
Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Engr. Babatunde Edu, said the decision was taken by
the state government in its effort to ensure adequate monitoring of the operations of commercial vehicles and compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
The ban, according to Edu, was supposed to have come into effect last month, but the state
government decided to embark on
enlightenment first.

He said LASTMA has been empowered by government to ensure strict compliance with the
directive and to impound any bus found on the aforementioned routes.
The LASTMA boss further stated that the buses can operate in other parts of the state aside the
restricted areas, stressing that government has not banned their operation in the state.

Responding on behalf of the group, Engr. Taofeek Adesina, hailed government’s efforts to
restore sanity and order in the state and pledged the union’s readiness to support the cause.
